MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects

Founded in Paris in 1992 by Mario Cucinella, MCA – Mario Cucinella Architects is now based in Bologna and Milan and comprises more than 100 professionals. MCA specializes in architectural design integrating environmental and energy strategies, supported by an internal R&D department that conducts research on sustainability-related topics.

The studio has completed and is currently developing projects across Europe, China, Africa, the Middle East, and South America. These include: the Art Museum, Fondazione Luigi Rovati in Milan, awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 2024; the New Surgical and Emergency Hub of Ospedale San Raffaele in Milan; the Chiesa Santa Maria Goretti in Mormanno; the new Rectorate Headquarters of Roma Tre University in Rome; One Airport Square in Accra, Ghana; the new headquarters of NICE in Limeira, Brazil; the Sino-Italian Ecological and Energy Efficient Building in Beijing, China; the masterplan for MIND – Milano Innovation District, the mixed-use development SeiMilano, and the Gruppo Unipol Headquarters in Milan; the Università della Valle d’Aosta University Campus in Aosta; the e-building Ferrari in Maranello; the Italy Pavilion Expo 2025 Osaka, awarded the Bureau International des Expositions prize for the best interpretation of the theme; the mixed-use “Viertel Zwei” towers in Vienna; and the MET Tirana Building in Tirana.

MCA collaborates with SOS – School of Sustainability Foundation, a school for young professionals and recent graduates aimed at providing them with the tools needed to address environmental issues through an open, holistic, and research-driven approach. The school was founded in 2015 by Mario Cucinella and is based in Milan.
