Oscar Niemeyer (1907–2012) was one of the most important architects of the 20th century, known for revolutionizing modern architecture with his bold use of reinforced concrete and for his highly expressive, fluid, and sensual style, often inspired by the curves of the human body and the Brazilian landscape.

Niemeyer was a key figure in Brazilian modernism, but unlike the rigid functionalism of the European Modernist movement, he introduced free, curving, and sculptural forms, often symbolic and deeply poetic.
“It is not the right angle that attracts me… what attracts me is the free and sensual curve.” (Oscar Niemeyer)
